TICD in Community: The Newtown Neighborhood Expert Team
The Newtown Neighborhood Expert Team (NET) brings trauma-informed community development to life in Newtown. Our trained Neighborhood Experts connect neighbors block by block—activating spaces, sparking conversations, and building the relationships that help the community stay connected, healthy, and strong.
WHAT NET DOES
- The NET hosts community events like Bring Back Family Fun Day every 3rd Sunday in Orange Park, Pizza Pasta, & Conversations at the Betty Johnson Library, and the Newtown Book Club.
- Neighborhood Experts conduct ongoing outreach—reaching 4,000 Newtown residents by March 2026
- Relationships built by the NET lay the groundwork for forming microcommunities and co-designing the Newtown Family Center
- Together, we celebrate the work of other Newtown-led organizations dedicated to the vibrancy and sustainability of the Newtown community.
- The team is creating the origins of a resilient, community-driven movement that can grow and evolve for years to come.
- Curates a list of trauma-informed community supports.
- Maintains a database of Newtown-owned businesses and services.
