The Newtown Neighborhood Expert Team (NET) brings trauma-informed community development to life in Newtown. Our trained Neighborhood Experts connect neighbors block by block—activating spaces, sparking conversations, and building the relationships that help the community stay connected, healthy, and strong.

Neighbors Leading Recovery
Through a partnership with the Community Foundation of Sarasota and the Suncoast Disaster Recovery Program, Newtown Neighborhood Experts interviewed 138 residents over three weeks to understand their experiences during the 2024 hurricane season.
What we learned: Recovery isn't just about rebuilding—it's about helping people feel safe, healthy, and hopeful again. By working together, we restore what was lost and strengthen the systems we all rely on.
What we're doing: Delivering Energy and Water Conservation Kits to every neighbor surveyed and launching a Neighborhood Volunteer network—nurturing relationships person by person, block by block.
